Rocking Halloween In 2020
Halloween is the perfect time for people to express their creativity. You get to choose whether you want to be good, evil, or magical for the night. You can be a mummy straight from the grave, or a witch flying in on her broomstick. All Hallows’ Eve is perfect for dressing up, and eating candy until you have to unbutton your pants. To quote Mean Girls: “In girl world, Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it. The hardcore girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears.” This year, you can dress however you want. Costumes for 2020 are more creative than ever.

Whether you dress up as a witch or a fairy, this halloween is going to be a unique one. Even though we all want to celebrate together, we still need to ensure that we are being safe. In Friday the 13th Part VI, Elizabeth says, “I’ve seen enough horror movies to know that any weirdo wearing a mask is never friendly.” This year, everyone will be wearing a mask. Take advantage of this situation and use your face mask as a fun way to accessorize. Performers like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande have been accessorizing since the beginning of the pandemic. If you want to hide your mask, there are many characters whose costumes cover their faces. You can be a ninja, a superhero, Darth Vader or any other masked Star Wars characters, or a masked DJ/singer like Marshmallow. A nice way to honor our essential workers is by dressing up as a doctor or nurse.

If you’re in the mood to DIY, try designing yourself a mermaid. Cut a pair of fishnets in half so you can use them as a stencil for scales. Try Motives new Horizon Eye Shadow Palette. The shade Oceanic is a deep glittery blue that is perfect for an under-the-sea eye look to match any mermaid tail.
Need a last-minute costume? You cannot go wrong with a mummy, or put your favorite character onesie to use. You could also easily purchase a graphic tee with your favorite cartoon character’s face on it.
Halloween is all about expressing yourself through wacky costumes, makeup, and masks. In Mean Girls, Cady didn’t know that girls typically just wear lingerie to Halloween parties. So she showed up in a mangled wedding dress, fake teeth, and scary makeup. She was expressing herself the best way she knew how. It’s your time to express yourself, too. Halloween is a time for spooks and scariness, and it is only fitting that your costume reflects that spirit.
