Starting on the Right Note

The ways in which you begin your day sets the tone for the rest. That is simply undeniable. There have been times where I wake up in a foul mood and the rest of my day is dictated by my sour attitude, and trust me, it’s not fun. In times like this, we are clouded by our negative outlook, not only impacting us, but those around us as well. In order to prevent that from happening, there are various things you can do to ensure that you start your day on the right note. Let’s see exactly what they are.

As counterintuitive as it may sound, a good day actually starts the night before. In order to ensure that you are setting yourself up for a successful day, you must get a restful night’s sleep. For a lot of people, this is easier said than done. Netflix binges, social media, and time with friends can keep us up way later than they should. Although partaking in these activities can be good for the soul, do them within reasonable hours. In order to function optimally, aim for those eight hours a night. You (along with everyone you interact with) will thank yourself for it.

Although waking up early is frightening, some individuals truly are “morning people.” If you wake up with the mindset of productivity and opportunity, you will have the motivation to start your day in the best way possible. I urge you to set your alarm 10-15 minutes earlier than needed to give yourself enough time to really wake up before starting the day. You will get out of bed more ready than ever to tackle whatever is to come. Even consider adding journaling, meditation, walks, or other self-care activities to your morning to put yourself in the best headspace possible.

Now we have reached the most important meal of the day: breakfast. Eating a wholesome and nutrient-dense breakfast will provide you with the proper fuel you need for the day ahead. Finding meals you enjoy will make you more excited to get out of bed each morning and get the day going. Some great ideas include oatmeal, omelettes, smoothies, and yogurt. The possibilities are endless.

The last thing to do is to get yourself dressed and ready in whatever it is that makes you feel your most confident and beautiful. Whether that means sweatpants and a t-shirt, or a dress and heels, what matters is that you’re feeling good. Maybe even play some energetic music or a motivational podcast to really get you excited to conquer the hours ahead. In doing just these few things, you will notice a measurable difference in the tone of your day. After all, your morning is only the beginning of what’s to come, so start it on the best note possible.
